אהרון מאיר (נולד ב-18 במרץ 1958) הוא ארכאולוג ישראלי, פרופסור מן המניין במחלקה ללימודי ארץ ישראל וארכאולוגיה באוניברסיטת בר-אילן ומנהל החפירות בתל צפית, היא גת המקראית^[1].

מאיר נולד ברוצ'סטר ניו יורק, ארצות הברית ועלה לישראל בגיל 11 בשנת 1969. לאחר שירות צבאי בצה"ל ביחידה מובחרת ושחרור בדרגת סרן, למד באוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים ובהמשך קיבל תואר דוקטור בהצטיינות יתרה ב-1997. מאיר עשה פוסט-דוקטורט בין 2002 ל-2003 במכון להיסטוריה ומדעים ב-MIT. מלמד באוניברסיטת בר-אילן משנת 1993.

מאיר השתתף וניהל מספר חפירות ארכאולוגיות בישראל, בין השאר באתרים הבאים: ירושלים, תל חצור, יקנעם, תל קסילה, בית שאן ומשנת 1996 בתל א-צפי.

תחומי התמחותו כוללים את התרבויות של תקופת הברונזה ותקופת הברזל של מזרח הים התיכון. הנושאים אותם למד כוללים: מסחר בתקופה העתיקה, מטלורגיה, ייצור כדים, יישומים מדעיים בארכאולוגיה, סקרים ארכאולוגים, ארכאולוגיה של ירושלים, תקופת הברונזה התיכונה בלבנט, כרונולוגיה של האלף השני לפני הספירה, יחסי מצרים והלבנט הקדום, כלי נשק קדומים ומלחמה, תרבויות ודתות קדומות. בשני העשורים האחרונים הוא חוקר רבות את תופעת הפלשתים וגויי הים. כמו כן, בשנים האחרונות, הוא עוסק בתרבויות של פפואה ניו-גינאה, שבמערב האוקיינוס השקט.

בין 2005 ל-2007 שימש כראש המחלקה ללימודי ארץ ישראל וארכאולוגיה על שם מרטין זוס^[2] באוניברסיטת בר-אילן. הוא ייסד יחד עם פרופסור סטיב ויינר ממכון ויצמן למדע ברחובות תוכנית משותפת במדעי הארכאולוגיה, שפעל עד שנת 2010. לאחרונה, הוא מונה למנהל של מרכז מינרבה לקשרים בין ישראל וארם בתקופת המקרא, שהוא מרכז מחקר שעוסק במחקר בין-תחומי על היבטים שונים של הקשרים וההשפעות בין התרבות הישראלית והתרבות הארמית, בעיקר (אך לא רק) בתקופת המקרא. המרכז, שממוקם באוניברסיטת בר-אילן, משותף לאוניברסיטת לייפציג בגרמניה, ועוד מוסדות אקדמיים בישראל ומחוצה לה.

משנת 1996 הוא מנהל את חפירות תל א-צפי, שזוהתה כגת הפלישתית – אחת מחמש ערי הפלשתים המוזכרות במקרא. עירו של גוליית הפלישתי.

אהרון נשוי לפרופסור עדינה מאיר, ראש בית הספר לרפוי בעיסוק באוניברסיטה העברית ולהם שלושה בנים ושני נכדים.
