תבנית:חברת תעופה אייסלנדאייר (Icelandair) היא חברת התעופה הלאומית של איסלנד שבסיסה נמצא בנמל התעופה הבינלאומי קפלוויק.

תולדות החברה

החברה נוסדה בשנת 1937 כשנוסד שדה התעופה הראשון באיסלנד. בשנת 1943 העבירה החברה את בסיסה לעיר הבירה רייקיאוויק. עד שנת 1945 ביצעה החברה טיסות פנימיות באיסלנד ובשנה זאת ביצעה החברה את טיסותיה הבינלאומית הראשונות אל סקוטלנד ודנמרק. טיסות אלו הפכו לסדירות בשנת 1946. כיום מפעילה החברה גם קווי טיסה סדירים בין רייקיאוויק ליעדים רבים בצפון אמריקה, בעיקר עבור תיירים המעוניינים בתחנת ביניים בדרך לאירופה.

פעילות החברה בישראל

בחודש אפריל 2017 הביעה החברה התעניינות לפתוח קו תעופה ישיר בין רייקיאוויק לנמל התעופה בן-גוריון.[1]
