צ'אד (סלנג)
באופן היסטורי, המונח צ'אד (באנגלית: Chad) הושם בהקשרים שונים. בתחילה, הבריטים השתמשו במונח זה כדי לתאר קריקטורה מסוימת כהומוריסטית.[1] מאוחר יותר, המונח היה כינוי גנאי לגברים הצעירים והעירוניים בני המעמד הגבוה בשיקגו.[2] בסלנג האינטרנטי, המונח בדרך כלל מיוחס ל-"זכר אלפא"[3] או פשוט גבר מצליח מבחינה מינית.[4]
היסטוריה
[עריכת קוד מקור | עריכה]המונח הופיע לראשונה בבריטניה במהלך מלחמת העולם השנייה, כחלק מהמם קילרוי היה כאן.[1] מאוחר יותר, המונח הופיע בשיקגו כסלנג גנאי לתאר גבר צעיר, רווק ועשיר מהפרברים הצפוניים של העיר, שבדרך כלל היה בשנות ה-20 או ה-30 לחייו.[2] הנושא מתואר באתר סאטירי שהוקדש לחברת לינקולן פארק צ'אד, מועדון חברים בדיוני שבסיסו בלינקולן פארק (אנ').[5]
המונח, בצורתו הנוכחי, נהיה לתופעת אינטרנט בשנות ה-2010 לאחר שהופיע במערכת הפורומים המקוונת 4chan תחת השם "צ'אד ת'אנדרקוק" ("Chad Thundercock").[6] המונח בדרך כלל מתאר גבר הטרוסקסואל לבן, בדרך כלל בלונדיני,[7][8] שעובד בשכר, אתלטי, פעיל מינית ואדם בעל פין גדול.[9][10] בשל המאפיינים שלהם כבעלי כישרון גנטי ומיוחסים - אם כי לעיתים מתוארים כרדודים, בעלי ראש אווירי, מתנשאים ומיניים בעליל, המונח מופיע באופן משפיל ומחמיא בפורומים לאינסלים.[11][12][13] כמו כן, בתרבות האינטרנט, ובמיוחד באתרי מנוספרה, המונח גם מתאר אנשים שנמצאים בעשירון העליון מבחינת הכשירות הגנטית.[14]

The categories of "Virgo" and "Chad" emerged in 2016 from the publication of a meme on the social network 4chan. These names designate two stereotypical profiles of people or groups based on the +/- virility trait: the Chad or alpha male, heterosexual, white, attractive and popular; and his counterpart the Virgo or beta male.

Chad Thundercock or Nordic Gamer, is a memeable character sketch based on a drawing of a very stereotypically masculine man who gets with a lot of women and is tough and stoic. Square jawed, usually blond haired, muscular, and well-endowed.
