תיאור
Català: Joan Coromines i Vigneaux (Barcelona, 1905 - Pineda de Mar, 1997). Filòleg. Va estudiar a Barcelona, a Montpellier, Madrid i Zurich. Va mantenir contacte amb grans professors com Grammont i Ramón Menéndez Pidal. El 1950 va ser nomenat membre adjunt de l'Institut d'Estudis Catalans, càrrec que va ocupar dos anys més tard, quan va tornar a Catalunya després de l'exili. És autor del "Diccionari etimològic i complementari de la Llengua Catalana" i de l'"Onomasticon Cataloniae". Va rebre el Premi d'Honor de les Lletres Catalanes (1984) i el premi Nacional de les Lletres Espanyoles (1989).
