החלמה (נקרא גם "התאוששות") הוא תהליך של שיפור הדרגתי בבריאות האדם לאחר שחלה במחלה, או נפצע והיא מתרחשת כאשר החולה חוזר לבריאותו או מרגיש טוב יותר כחלק ממנגנון הריפוי העצמי של גוף האדם^[1]. לעיתים החלמה כוללת גם טיפול בחולים לאחר שעברו ניתוח רפואי^[2]^[3] שבמסגרתו הם נדרשים לבקר את הרופא למען בדיקות באופן תדיר^[4]^[5].
