For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. Märzkämpfe 1921 im mitteldeutschen Industriegebiet. - Schutzpolizei besetzte am 19.3. auf Befehl des preußischen Innenministers Severing und des Oberpräsidenten der Prov-Sachsen Hörsing Orte und Fabriken im Raum Halle. Am 21.3. begann zunächst im Mansfelder Gebiet der Generalstreik, aus dem sich nach dem 22.3. von der Polizei provozierte bewaffnete Kämpfe entwickelten. Es gelang der Schutzpolizei, die letzten bewaffneten Arbeiterabteilungen bis zum 3.4. zu liquidieren. Viele Arbeiter wurden ermordet, Tausende eingekerkert. Revolutionäre Arbeiter werden in Eisleben von der Polizei abgeführt.
English: March Action in 1921 in the central German industrial area. On 19 March, on the orders of the Prussian Minister of the Interior Severing and the Oberpräsident of the Prov-Sachsen Hörsing the security police occupied the workplaces and factories in the area Halle. On 21 March began a general strike was launched in the Mansfeld area. After 22 March, provoked by the police, armed fighting developed. The security police managed to liquidate the last armed workers' sections on the 3 April. Many workers were murdered and thousands imprisoned. Revolutionary workers were arrested by the police in Eisleben. |
