Built 1972.
One of twelve Buccaneers to serve during ‘Desert Storm’, now known as the first Gulf War. Based at Muharraq, Bahrain, they were used for laser target designation, a task which Tornado could not carry out at that time. XW547 flew eleven sorties during the campaign, wearing desert pink and carrying the names “Guiness Girl” and “Pauline”. Returning to the UK in March 1991, she was immediately retired. By 1993 she was on display at Cosford, the first RAF Gulf War aircraft to be preserved.
In 2003 she moved to Hendon where she remains on display in the Bomber Command Hall at the RAF Museum, Hendon, London, UK.
