English: A U.S. Navy North American RA-5C Vigilante from Heavy Reconnaissance Attack Squadron 9 (RVAH-9) "Hoot Owls" just before being launched from the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN-68). RVAH-9 was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 8 (CVW-8) aboard the Nimitz for a deployement to the Mediterranean Sea from 7 July 1976 to 7 February 1977. The squadron was disestablished following this cruise on 30 September 1977. |
