תיאור Female side of Aesthetic teapot designed by R.W. Binns and modeled by James Hadley, 1881. English, Royal Worcester Porcelain Works, mark for 1882. On display at the California Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco. 2004.113a-b. The reverse side of the teapot has a male face and a sunflower instead of an Arum lily. See: https://www.flickr.com/photos/wordster1028/2494245274/. The description on Flickr says: "it is reminiscient of classic busts of Janus in these opposing features. The Museum provided the following information: 'Inscribed on the underside: "Fearful consequences through the laws of Natural Selection and Evolution of living up to one's Teapot.' This teapot is a satire on the utterances of... Darwinism, and the Aesthetic movement, which swept England and America in the 1870s and 1880s.
