לאמיה ז'ורייג' היא אמנית חזותית ויוצרת סרטים לבנונית.[1] היא מייסדת שותפה ומנהלת-שותפה (יחד עם סנדרה דגר) של המרכז לאמנויות של ביירות.[2]

ז'ורייג' עובדת עם מגוון מדיות, לרבות ציור, כתיבה, צילום, וידאו, ומיצב. היא בוחנת ארכיונים ונושאים אחרים הקשורים לזיכרון.[3]
ז'ורייג' משתמשת במסמכים ארכיוניים בשילוב עם אלמנטים בדיוניים, כדי לשקף גם היסטוריה וגם את אפשרויות הטמונות בסיפורה. היא בוחנת את היחסים בין סיפורים אינדיבידואליים לבין זיכרון קולקטיבי. היא מתמקדת בעיקר בהיסטוריה לבנונית, וחוקרת את האופנים שמלחמה ותוצאותיה מיוצגים ומסופרים בארצה, ובמיוחד בביירות - עיר מולדתה ומגוריה. סרטה Here and Perhaps Elsewhere (2003) מייצג מעין מפה אישית של ביירות, ובו ז'ורייג' פוגשת מגוון אנשים בטיולה לאורך "הקו הירוק" הבלתי נראה - הגבול עליו נמצאות עמדות בידוק צבאיות, ומשם התרחשו חטיפות רבות אשר פילגו את ביירות למזרח ומערב.
במיצב הווידאו על ערוץ יחיד, "Objects of War" (אובייקטים של מלחמה), סדרה של עדויות על מלחמת לבנון,[4] היא בוחנת כיצד מלחמה וטראומה יכולות להתגלם בחפצים חומריים. העבודה נרכשה על ידי מוזיאון טייט מודרן ב-2011, עבודת האמנות המז'ורית הראשונה של אמן לבנוני שנכללה באוספים הקבועים של מוזיאון זה. עבודת הווידאו שלה על ביירות, "Autopsy of a City" (ניתוח לאחר המוות של עיר) הוא חלק מ-"Story Board", מרכז דיגיטלי בהפקת המוזיאון לאמנות מודרנית של סן פרנסיסקו.[5]
בעבודתה Night and Days (2007), סדרת צילומים, היא מתעדת את מעבר הזמן והשינויים שמתרחשים בעטיית מלחמות. העבודה מבוססת על צילומים ורשימות שערכה ב-2006, בעת המלחמה. בכל עבודותיה, היא עוסקת בתיעוד הזמן ומעברו, העקבות שהוא משאיר אחריו, וכיצד הוא משפיע על הבריות, לרבות זיכרונות האדם, והבלתי אפשרי שגלום בניסיון לייצר ולהנגיש נראטיב שלם של העבר.[6]
