·ד"ר דוד זייטון (נולד בצרפת בג' בסיוון התשי"ט, 7 ביוני 1959) הוא מתמטיקאי שימושי המתמחה בשימוש במתמטיקה לבעיות מים ולחינוך המתמטי והמדעי בארץ. הוא היום מכהן כראש ההתמחות למתמטיקה, מרצה ומדריך פדגוגי במכללת אורות ישראל. וכן עובד כמרצה בחיר בECOLE SUPERIEURE DE GESTION בפריס. בנוסף ד"ר זייטון יועץ מדעי למשרד החוץ, משרד התשתיות הלאומיות ומשרד איכות הסביבה.

המפגש הרציני הראשון של ד״ר זייטון עם המתמטיקה התקיים בסורבון באוניברסיטה PARIS 6 הצרפתי, ובבית ספר גבוה להנדסה היוקרתי ENPC. בסופן אחז בתואר שני כפול: אחד במתמטיקה, השני בהנדסת מים עיסוק במקורות מים ובניתוח פני הקרקע כדי לדעת כמה מים יש בהם. עם תום הלימודים החליט ד"ר זייטון, שמגיע מבית ציוני, שהגיע הזמן לעלות ארצה. מה שכמעט עיכב אותו היה נוהל גיוס חובה שהתקיים אז בצרפת. הוא מצא שיש קרן של שיתוף פעולה מחקרי בין ישראל לצרפת. אז הגיש מועמדות והתקבל. כתוצאה מכך, עשה ד"ר זייטון את שירותו בצבא הצרפתי בטכניון. שם סיים ד"ר זייטון עם דוקטורט בהנדסת קרקע. השלב הבא היה של ׳פוסט דוקטורט׳ בארצות הברית.

ד"ר זייטון השתתף במשלחת של "מהנדסים ללא גבולות" לפתירת בעיות מים באזורים נידחים בעולם ד"ר זייטון פועל כבר שנים בתחום החינוך המתמטי והמדעי וגם כיועץ מים לקידוחי המים ומניעת זיהומים. הוא סקר את כל הארץ במאמריו, כך גם את איזור יו״ש ואפילו עזה. והגיע למקומות רבים בחו״ל כדי לייצא את הידע הישראלי.
