Bernard Schapiro, a
German endocrinologist, who in 1943 postulated that PE was not the expression of
a neurosis but a psychosomatic disorder. He argued that both biological and
psychological factors contributed to rapid ejaculatory performances. Years ahead
of his time, Schapiro advocated drug treatment in the form of anesthetic ointments
to delay ejaculation.

When the Nazzi party came to powerin 1933, Bernard, his wife and four children fled from Berlin to Swisseland, where He established an andrologic practice at Zurich.
.In 1940 the family moved abroad to New York, USA, after achieving a great amount of research in the medical sciene of PE and managed to establish a new existence as an andrologist.
In 1951 Bernard and his wife Tikla followed there Zionest dream and migratad to Jerusalem, Israel, where he founded and headed an Endocrinologic Department of the Hebrew University, pursuing andrologic questions, until his death on December 31, 1966.== ראו גם ==
