Gabriel (Gabby) Meir Perel (born July 2nd, 1963) is an Israeli business executive, a financier, and an amateur painter. He is Senior Advisor to CVC Capital Partners, Chairman of Bereshiet Fund (Israel government-sponsored mezzanine fund) and Chairman at GCA Altium Capital Israel.

Gabby Perel was born in Israel to a Jewish, Zionist family of Argentinian descent, and grew up in Tel Aviv. Gabby received primary and secondary education in public schools in Tel Aviv. Between the years 1981 – 1984, Gabriel served as Captain in the Israeli Artillery and the Intelligence Forces. He attended Tel Aviv University, where he majored in Political Science and earned his BA in 1988. In 1991, Perel received an MBA degree from New York Institute of Technology. Gabby also attended Harvard Business School, where he completed a course in Leadership of Professional Service Firms..

Before joining CVC Capital Partners and GCA Altium Capital, Perel held various positions with Evergreen Asset Management, Clal Insurance, Harel Insurance, IDB Group, Odin Investments, Bereshiet Manof Fund and Oaktree Capital Management In 1990, he joined Bank Leumi in New York, as a Credit Portfolio Manager. Between 1991-1999 Gabby worked at Ofek Asset Management in Tel Aviv. In 1999 Gabby become CEO of Evergreen Asset Management. He built Evergreen into one of Israel’s premier private boutique portfolio managers, with Assets under Management of more than NIS 1.25 billion. In 2002, Perel successfully managed the sale of Evergreen Asset Management to Clal Insurance (an IDB subsidiary), where he became CEO of Clal’s subsidiary Clal Finance, and EVP at the Clal Group. Upon joining Clal, Gabby led the reorganization of Clal Insurance and established Clal Finance as the Group’s financial arm. Through a series of acquisitions Perel shaped Clal Finance into the largest non-bank financial institution in Israel, with NIS 35 billion in assets under management. Among others, Gabby led the acquisition and integration of Ilanot Betucha (Israel’s largest private investment house). Gabby initiated cooperation agreements with leading international financial institutions including UBS, AXA and Merrill Lynch. Perel was a member of the Executive Committee of Clal Insurance Holdings, and was responsible for the insurance group’s investment arms. Perel continued to develop within the IDB Group, and in 2005 became Executive Vice President of the Group, and Head of International Investments. Gabby left IDB in 2006, to pursue an independent path. He founded Odin Investments, a private holding company. Between 2007 and 2008 Gabby served as Vice-Chairman of the Harel Insurance Group – Israel largest insurance group. Following the global financial crisis of 2008, Perel raised NIS 2 billion for a government sponsored turnaround debt and equity fund, “Bereshiet”. Perel established the partnership and assembled the professional team that won the first government bid for the Manof funds, set up to address the corporate debt liquidity crunch post the 2008 financial markets turmoil. Bereshiet made over 17 debt and equity investments in 36 months, and has generated double digit annual returns. Gabby currently serves as Senior Advisor to CVC Capital Partners, and he is Chairman at GCA Altium Capital and is the Chairman of Bereshiet Fund.

Gabby is an amateur painter and a philanthropist. He is a member of the Artists' association of Ein Hod, an artists’ colony in the north of Israel. He splits his time between Ein Hod village, where he spends his time painting and promoting art, and Tel Aviv, Israel’s financial center. Gabby co-resides with his life partner Nurit Hod and his two children of a previous marriage, Jonathan and Leehe. Selected artwork
