עברית: תעודת ההצטיינות של בלה שניטלנדר. בשנת 1915 התקבל ללימודי הנדסה אזרחית באוניברסיטת בודפשט לטכנולוגיה וכלכלה. לימודיו נפסקו לאחר שנה עקב פרוץ מלחמת העולם הראשונה. הוא גויס ליחידת תותחנים ונשלח לחזית הרומנית. במהלך הקרבות נפגע קשה ואושפז בבית חולים למשך כשנה, על שירותו הצבאי הוא קיבל בשנת 1916 אות הצטיינות. שניטלנדר שרת ברג'ימנט קורפ. מספר 18, תחת יחידה באנוס 2. התעודה ניתנה בבודפשט ב-1916. דרגת השירות: צוער -סמל שאפתן במילואים, בתפקיד קצין סיור
תרגום תעודת ההצטיינות לעברית: תותחן הארטילריה של הדיוויזיה המלכותית, בלה סל, תצפת על עץ גבוה במשך שעות ארוכות וזאת תחת אשף ושרטט על מפה את מיקומי עמדות האויב. כשהבחין בהופעת הכוחות הרומניים, הוא הודיע מיד למפקדו. שרטוטיו של עמדות האויב סייעו למפקדו להחליט אילו טקטיקות דרושות לתקיפה. בזמן ששרטט תחת אש, ספג הסמל את פציעתו. הסמל הינו חייל נלהב ואמיץ שראוי לשבחים מיוחדים. בנוסף לכל הוא כבר בלט קודם בו הפגין אומץ לב מעל למצופה. Royal Division Howitzers of Artillery Bela Szell sat high on a tree for hours, under enemy fire, with a sketch pad monitoring the enemy’s position. Upon noticing the appearance of the Romanian troops, he notified his commander at once. His drawings of the enemy’s position helped his commander decide which tactics were needed to attack. It was while sketching under enemy fire that Szell incurred his injury He exhibited under these conditions extraordinary show of loyalty, perception, energy and self sacrifice which resulted in his being wounded. He is a keen, courageous soldier who deserves special praise. He already stood out in a previous battle exhibiting extreme courage. |
