English: General Kitchener and the Anglo-egyptian Nile Campaign, 1898
Director of Military Intelligence, Colonel Sir Francis Wingate and staff with Lord Edward Cecil (right). Major Cecil was one of General Kitchener's ADCs. Colonel Wingate succeeded Kitchener as Sirdar of the Egyptian Army and Governor General of Sudan. He was responsible for overseeing the reconstruction of the country after the campaign.
