This is the spelling from georgian. Geagea 23:26, 13 במרץ 2007 (IST)[תגובה]

I know it's a Georgian spelling, however 'Pitsunda' is not only Abkhaz and Russian spelling but also the most widely used name for the town in English (Google results for Pitsunda and Bichvinta number 15,800 and 252 respectively). This is the reason English wikipedia uses this particular spelling for this particular article. Sometimes Georgian or Russian spelling is used as well if it's more popular.

It's also the matter of consistency - Abkhazia article is called here 'Abkhazia', not 'Abkhazeti' or 'Apsny'. s

I've added an Abkhaz name but I also think that the article itself should be renamed. Alaexis from English wikipedia

  • I believe that what counts is first the hebrew name if there is one then the abkhaz and the georgian name.
  • When I make the article there was only the georgian name and the russian name.
  • Google serch in hebrew give no results for both.
  • If the real name in abkhazian is Pitsunda I go for it but I did not see in Abkhaz language and I believe that "Аҧсны" is not mean Pitsunda.
  • The hebrew pronounce abkhazia like kolekhis is the famous name in hebrew. Pitsunda and Bichvinta are unknown in hebrew.
