Thanks to everyone who's posted questions and suggestions here so far... It's exciting to talk to people on a wiki that I haven't posted on before. Sorry that I'm posting in English; it's the best I can offer.
Flow is in active development, and we're working on a lot of features right now. Some of the features that have been discussed here are actually just about to be released, and some are coming out in the next month or so.
Here's how it breaks down:
Coming out very soon:
The ability to edit other people's posts will be released on mediawiki.org by the end of next week. We've made some interface changes to support that -- posts that have been edited by someone other than the original writer will say "Edited by Username 3 minutes ago", so that it's easy for everyone to see what happened. We've also fixed the diff pages so that you can browse between previous and next changes. This is a big change, so for this first release we're only turning it on for communities who've asked for it. If you want it here, we can turn it on here too.
VisualEditor toolbar is also coming out in the next couple of weeks. The first version will just have three functions: Bold/Italics, Links and Mentions. (Mentions will autocomplete with people who have already participated in the thread.) There will also be a switch to use wikitext instead. We're planning to add more to the toolbar, once we see how this first version works.
Working on these next:
More flexible width, and a toggle to change the display -- The plan is to move the header into the side rail, so that can be the spot for instructions, metadata boxes, categories and links to wikitext archives. That will have a toggle which will allow you to collapse the side rail, and see the discussions wider.
More powerful watchlist/notification functionality -- This is a very important feature that will be getting a lot of team attention over the next month. There are a lot of different ideas, and we'll be coming back here to ask for feedback and suggestions. This may include a way to see all of the changes on a Flow board since you were last there, instead of only seeing that by the individual thread.
Not scheduled yet, but keep asking about it:
Displaying a real/preferred name along with your username -- This is something I've been wanting to work on for a while, and we've just been waiting for a community to say that they really want it!
An option to see standard timestamps instead of "time ago" -- We haven't seen this request come up very often. The relative time ago timestamp will be the default -- it's the standard for almost every website and app that people use. We could add a preference for people who just want to see the UTC timestamp, if we hear that it's important to people.
There's still a lot of work to be done, and we're adding a lot of features. Keep asking questions and offering ideas; it's really helpful for our team. Thanks!
