Google Cloud Platform היא פלטפורמת מחשוב ענן של גוגל , המציעה לקהל הרחב שירותי אירוח ותשתית המניעים גם את החיפוש של Google ואת - YouTube.[1] פלטפורמת הענן מספקת למפתחים מוצרים ושירותים בכדי לבנות מגוון של יישומים ואתרי אינטרנט מפשוטים ועד למורכבים.[2][3]
Google Cloud Platform היא חלק מחבילת הפתרונות לעסקים של Google for Work ומספקת סט מודולרי של שירותי ענן וכלי פיתוח. לדוגמה, אירוח וביצוע חישובים, אחסון מידע מובנה, אחסון קבצים, ממשקי תרגום, ממשקי עיבוד תמונה וממשקי חיזוי.[2]
רכיבים של Google Cloud Platform
- Google App Engine - IaaS שירות המאפשר הרצת מכונות וירטואליות וקוד מנוהל המקביל ל Amazon EC2.
- Google Compute Engine - שירות המאפשר הרצת מכונות וירטואליות בענן וחישוב מבוזר על גביהן.
- Google CloudSQL - שירות בסיס נתונים MySQL מנוהל בענן.
- BigQuery - פלפורמת מידע כשירות, המאפשרת ביצוע Map Reduce על נפחי מידע גדולים מאד בזמן קצר בדומה ל- Hadoop.
- Google Cloud Functions - מוצר בגרסת אלפא המהווה Function as a service. שירות המאפשר הפעלת פונקציות על ידי אירועים ללא פיתוח כלל. מקביל לאמזון Lambda או IBM OpenWhisk
ציר הזמן
- אפריל 2008 - Google App Engine שוחרר בתצוגה מקדימה.[4]
- מאי 2010 - Google Cloud Storage הושק.[5]
- יולי 2012 - Google יצרה את תוכנית השותפים שלGoogle Cloud Platform.[6]
- אוקטובר 2012 - זמן קצר לאחר תקלה מערכתית באמזון, Google App Engine חווה תקלה מערכתית שהשפיעה גם על Tumblr ו - Dropbox.[7]
- אפריל 2012 - BigQuery, שהוצג לראשונה בחודש מרץ, הושק לקהל (GA).[8]
- דצמבר 2013 - לאחר 18 חודשי תצוגה מקדימה Google Compute Engine שוחרר (GA).[9]
- פברואר 2014 -Google Cloud SQL שוחרר כ- GA.[10]
