החלמה (נקרא גם "התאוששות") הוא תהליך של שיפור הדרגתי בבריאות האדם לאחר שחלה במחלה, או נפצע והיא מתרחשת כאשר החולה חוזר לבריאותו או מרגיש טוב יותר לאחר ביצוע פעולה מסוימת[1], לעיתים החלמה כוללת גם טיפול בחולים לאחר שעברו ניתוח רפואי[2][3] שבמסגרתו הם נדרשים לבקר את הרופא לצורך בדיקות באופן תדיר[4][5].
