יצורים פרה-היסטוריים שונים, כגון הדינוזאורים והממוטות מתוארים רבות כיצורים עצומי מימדים, ואכן לרבים מהם מגיע מקום של כבוד ברשימת היצורים הגדולים ביותר שחיו אי-פעם. כך, למשל, אורכו של הארגנטינוזאורוס היה מעל 30 מטרים, ומשקלו היה עד 100 טונות. אולם, חוקרים רבים סבורים כי היצור הגדול ביותר שהתקיים אי פעם על כדור הארץ הוא דווקא יונק שחי גם כיום - לווייתן כחול.

44 נשים זכו בפרס נובל בתחומים השונים (נכון לשנת 2013). האישה הראשונה שזכתה בפרס נובל הינה מארי קירי, והיא גם האישה היחידה שקיבלה שני פרסים - בפיזיקה ובכימיה. לפיכך, חולקו עד כה 45 פרסי נובל לנשים, מתוך 856 פרסי נובל שחולקו בסך הכל[1].
נשים מהוות כ-5.25% מכלל הזוכים בפרסי נובל. שיעור זה קטן בערך פי 9.5 משיעורן היחסי באוכלוסייה: הנשים מהוות כיום (2013) כ-49.7% מאוכלוסיית העולם[2].
